Four years in the making, Life ($40-$49) is the latest visceral journey from the makers of Planet Earth.

The 4-disc, 10-part set features 130 stories of life on our planet, an incredible 54 of which had never been filmed before. Rich, vivid, and often times riveting, the amazing full HD visuals are accompanied by a spot-one score by George Fenton.

Oh, and be sure to pick up the BBC version narrated by the great David Attenborough, unless you actually want to listen to 10-plus hours of Oprah.

Bleak, dark, unrelenting, and unquestionably great, Gomorrah ($33) is based on the true-life expose of the same name, and takes viewers inside the Camorra, a Naples-based Italian crime organization said to be so large and widespread that it brings in hundreds of billions of dollars a year.

Directed by Matteo Garrone using a documentary style, it skips the forced glamour and glorification of normal mobster movies for something that’s much more moving: the truth.

Distant Relatives ($10) is the 13-track result of the collaboration between Nas and Bob Marley’s son Damian. Obviously a great bathroom reader, it works equally well for coffee tables, waiting rooms, and light mid-air entertainment.

Relive the exploits of Jack, Hurley, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Locke, and the rest of the crew over and over again with Lost: The Complete Collection ($230-$280). Containing every episode from all six seasons of the show, this definitive set also includes over 30 hours of bonus materials taken from each season’s individual release, a full disc of exclusive bonus material including new featurettes, documentaries, and cast-driven tours of Oahu, and collectibles including a “Senet” game, a custom island replica, an episode guide, an Ankh, and a black light pendant.

Producer Dan Lin revealed last year (09) that Jolie would not be reprising her action role for the next installment of the action film – because film bosses wanted to cast a younger actress.
