Fiat 500 Abarth

1 Nov

Forget the awful J-Lo commercials — as it turns out, there’s a version of that tiny ride that’s actually manly enough to drive. And it’s name is the Fiat 500 Abarth ($TBA). Faithful to the “small but wicked” saying used to describe Karl Abarth’s cars from the ’60s, this racy model will sport an all-new 1.4L MultiAir Turbo engine, specially-tuned suspension and brake systems, upgraded technology on the inside, and far more aggressive looks on the outside.

The Belgian Supercar. Produced by Tony Gillet – he of Automobiles Gillet fame, naturally – it weighs 950kg, sports a chassis made from Carbon Nomex, has 350mm six-piston brakes, a six-speed sequential gearbox and, according to Google Translate, is ‘financially the most accessible of supercars’.

It now comes fitted with a Maserati-sourced 4.2-litre V8 producing 420bhp, which, combined with that low weight, should make for some cracking acceleration times.

Scubacraft

11 Aug

Underwater shenanigans await aboard the Scubacraft ($120,000). This open-cockpit submersible can reach 50 knots above water thanks to a 250hp engine, and offers push-button descent down to 100 feet beneath the waves, where electric thrusters kick in to move you and up to two friends around the depths. Scuba gear and certification required for the captain and passengers, but if you’re seriously considering buying this thing, that’s probably not going to be a problem.

Cyglo Tyres
